Armed terrorists and crazies are preying upon the masses of a largely unarmed citizenry. A survey by the Pew Research Center shows a secular decline in gun ownership in the U.S. from 29% of the population in 1970 to 22% in 2010, but gun sales have doubled over the last five years and brought the ownership rate back up to approximately 24%. A return to ownership levels of 45 years ago would have a significant impact on Smith & Wesson stock.
